Hormone-Inspired Control for Group Task-Distribution

چکیده
This paper introduces a hormone-inspired task assignment system for a group of robots. The system draws on previous work using endocrinebased methodologies, extending them to a group scenario, and incorporating previous work in evolutionary robotics. In the resulting system, performance data generated as part of the lifelong-adaptation functionality is reported between the robots, and used to autonomously re-assign tasks based on current conditions. The system is found to work well, although it is (as yet) more sensitive to small changes in the environment than required.

Modelling a Hormone-Inspired Controller for Individual- and Multi-Modular Robotic Systems
For all living organisms, the ability to regulate internal homeostasis is a crucial feature. This ability to control variables around a set point is found frequently in the physiological networks of single cells and of higher organisms. Also nutrient allocation and task selection in social insect colonies can be interpreted as homeostatic processes of a super-organism. And finally, also behavio...
متن کاملAn Investigation of Spoken Output and Intervention Types among Iranian EFL Learners
This study was inspired by VanPatten and Uludag’s (2011) study on the transferability of training via processing instruction to output tasks and Mori’s (2002) work on the development of talk-in-interaction during a group task. An interview was devised as the pretest, posttest, and delayed posttest to compare four intervention types for teaching the simple past passive: traditional intervention ...
